Celebrity Flying Winemakers Have Grapes Flown to Them

Dang, it must be good to be a celebrity like British talk show host Graham Norton. The Drinks Business reports he's coming out with his first wine, a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, and was fortunate enough to have some of the grapes flown to him to personally crush. Geez, most flying winemakers bring themselves to the grapes, but we are talking about someone famous, after all.

The grapes come from Marlborough's Invivio Wines, whose organic Sauvignon Blanc is Norton's exclusive on-screen sipper. Invivio sent a cooler-full of grapes 9on a carbon offset 20,000km flight) that ended up in a British bucket for Norton to squash. He produced enough juice to fill a bottle that will be turned into his "own" wine. The rest of his Sauvignon Blanc, which did not have the privilege of meeting Norton's feet, will come out this fall. All profits will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
