Kruger-Rumpf Binger Scharlachberg Riesling Spatlese 2015

Kruger-Rumpf Binger Scharlachberg Riesling Spatlese 2015

"I have to repeat that, though analytically sweet, most Spatlese, especially from cooler climates like Mosel, Nahe or Mittelrhein, are rather table than dessert wines for me. Stefan and Georg Rumpf's botrytis-free 2013 Binger Scharlachberg Riesling Spatlese, for example, starts precise and flinty on the nose like a sophisticated Riesling trocken. Medium-bodied, salty, pure, nervy and piquant on the palate the sweetness tastes like ripe and golden Riesling berries but not really sweet, and the finish is as clear and salty as of a dry wine. This fruity and complex but botrytis-free Scharlachberg Spatlese comes from old vines in a truly great terroir and you can taste it no matter the degree of sweetness." - The Wine Advocate
