Pazo de Arribi Mencia 2009

Pazo de Arribi Mencia 2009

A recommended wine in Eric Asimov's New York Times column on Bierzo on September 19th, 2013.

Pazo de Arribi Mencia comes from vineyards 30 years and older planted primarily in sandy and clay soils providing direct, ripe fruit character. The finished wine is aged three months in a mixture of second and third-year American and French oak barriques. Generous red-fruit and chocolate characteristics typical of Mencia are supported by accents of vanilla and toast from the oak.
