Wine on Wheels 2017 Grand Tasting and Auction

The blockbuster wine tasting event Wine on Wheels is now in its sixth year. The event run by top sommelier Yannick Benjamin allows one to taste older vintage wines from some of the world's most unique producers selected by a who's who of New York's top restaurant professionals - and all this for an amazing cause. 

Wine on WheelsWine on Wheels will feature over 200 wines from over 30 different wine regions selected by and poured by New York City’s top sommeliers. The who's who includes: Aldo Sohm of Le Bernardin, Arvid Rosengren of Charlie Bird, Dustin Wilson of Verve Wine, Joe Campanale of Annona Wine, Pascaline Lepeltier of Rouge Tomate, Paul Greico of Terroir Wine Bar, John Ragan, Union Square Hospitality, Jordan Salcito of Momofuko and many, many more. 

100% of the proceeds from Wine on Wheels benefits Wheeling Forward, a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live life to the fullest. 

Wine on Wheels includes multiple events during the week of April 24th-April 29th including a "Sommposium," a series of high-end wine events taking place throughout the city (see below for specific events).

Yannick Benjamin, Co-Founder

Yannick is a New York City-based sommelier and one of the co-founders of Wheeling Forward. In 2003, a car accident left Yannick paralyzed but did not stop him from pursuing his dreams of going on to college and becoming a world class sommelier. Yannick is an Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and is currently a sommelier at the University Club and has recently starred on Esquire Network’s TV show Uncorked. Yannick’s deep connections in the wine world have helped Wheeling Forward to build a broad base of supporters and inspired many sommeliers and wine distributors to give back to the community.

Alex Elegudin, Co-Founder

Alex has spent almost a decade working as an advocate and mentor in the disability community. In 2003, when Alex was a college sophomore, he was in a deer-related car accident and sustained a C6 level spinal cord injury. Alex continued on to Hofstra University Law School, became a successful patent attorney. Today, Alex uses his personal and professional experience to tackle challenging areas of need in the disability community and offer hope to those who turn to him as a mentor and role model.

History of Wheeling Forward

Wheeling Forward helps people with disabilities experience life to the fullest and enable them to see possibility where others see insurmountable obstacles. Wheeling Forward is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by helping them achieve their goals, big or small, today rather than tomorrow. Through our various programs and services, we assist individuals gain the necessary knowledge and confidence to live independently in the community. Since Wheeling Forward was established, we have reached out to hundreds individuals with disabilities in New York City, assisting young adults to transition out of nursing homes to live independently in the community, providing custom motorized wheelchairs to those in need, engaging the disability community in social events, and helping disabled individuals to enroll into college.
