A Sporting Sort: Athlete-Owned Wineries and Vineyards
Over the past few decades, the decisions that professional athletes make post-career have become increasingly diverse. They range from the assumed (such as new careers as coaches, TV analysts, and the like) to the strange (such as befriending the supreme leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, racing pigeons, and the like). However, one decision is becoming increasingly more common, as well as successful: buying wineries and vineyards. Picking up where we left off with our 2013 article “From Grass to Grape” and our 2014 article “Passing Time," Grape Collective takes a look at famous athletes by sport who have ventured into the lucrative business of wine.
