Washington Wine Industry Projected to Gain Almost 5,000 Jobs by 2018

Robust news on the job front when it comes to the wine industry in Washington State. A a study conducted by Agri-Business Consultants LLC of Prosser, and reported on by Wines & Vines, reports that nearly 5,000 jobs will need to be filled by 2018. The total estimated number of 15,809 wine industry jobs in Washington in 2013 is projected, five years later, to hit 20,583 full-time positions.

The biggest challenges to filling these positions? Funding for higher education to train the next generation of wine country employees. Faculty at the enology and viticultural program at Washington State University are already stretched to the limit when it comes to course loads.
