Wine of the Week: NV Roederer Estate Brut

The NV Roederer Estate Brut gives me the best of both worlds, as I am a bit of a Francophile but I enjoy exploring the world of domestic sparkling wines. A project of Champagne Louis Roederer, this Anderson Valley, California bottle of bubbles is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, tipping a bit in favor of the former, percentage-wise. I like it because it has a bit of unexpected richness for a wine at this (under $20!) price. You're in store for a refreshing finish, too, thanks to the zip from the bubbles and the zesty, lively nature that the still wines contribute before they are transformed and ready to show themselves to the world in a most sparkling fashion.

I love a sparkling wine like the Roederer Estate Brut with seafood, fried chicken, and popcorn. Possibly with all three on the table at the same time.
